We understand that every patient has individual circumstances and we partner with you to make an informed decision on the different paths you can take towards repair and recovery.
What To Expect:
A team of compassionate experts who will give you the best treatment and care for you like a family member.
Most repairs can be performed with a minimally invasive (robotic or laparoscopic) approach, which will minimize recovery time and can be performed as an outpatient. However, some complex and recurrent hernias require an open approach. Generally, an open approach will require a minimum of an overnight hospital stay and a longer recovery.
In most cases, we will incorporate mesh in the repair. This is done in an effort to reduce your risk of recurrence. We can address your questions and concerns regarding mesh placement at the time of your evaluation.
A recovery plan that fits your body and life
During surgery:
You will receive general anesthesia
Our team will place herniated tissue back in its proper place
We will typically repair the hole or defect with sutures and place a piece of mesh to reinforce the repair and reduce your risk of developing a recurrent hernia.
On average, our patients are off all pain medications 2 weeks after surgery
If you have any questions about the procedure, our team is available to chat! Please call our office or email us at appointments@gainesvilleherniasurgery.com.
